Managing Partner
Joe is a Managing Partner with CRP and is involved in all aspects of the business with a primary focus on overall strategy, capital formation and portfolio and fund management. From 2017 – 2024, Joe led the growth of Canvas’ predecessor company, Collett Capital, from one direct investment to over $800 million invested across 30+ transactions and over $300 million of equity raised from private, family office and institutional capital. Joe continues to oversee all aspects of the Collett Capital portfolio.
Most recently from 2021-2024, alongside partner Creighton Call, Joe led the capitalization of Canvas Residential’s first ~700 unit build-for-rent portfolio.
Prior to launching Collett Capital’s real estate private equity business in early 2017, Joe worked for Goldman Sachs in New York in the Real Estate Principal Investment Area (REPIA), the firm’s flagship real estate private equity investing business, and for The Carlyle Group’s U.S. Real Estate investment division in Washington, D.C.
During his career, Joe has directed the investment of approximately $2.0 billion in a wide variety of real estate opportunities across the United States with a primary focus on the residential, retail and hospitality sectors.
Joe has an MBA from The Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) and a BA from the UNC – Chapel Hill.
Managing Partner
Creighton is a Managing Partner with CRP and is involved in all aspects of the business with a primary focus on sourcing, development and asset management. He has devoted 17 years of his career to development and acquisition roles focused on residential and mixed-use communities for Crescent Communities, Hines, and Flywheel. Over the course of his career, he has successfully managed planning, entitlements, and development for 5,000 multifamily units and 10,500 residential lots.
Prior to forming Canvas Residential Partners, Creighton founded EverGreen Living in partnership with a regional home builder in early 2020 with the goal of meeting the needs of modern renters. During his tenure at EverGreen, Creighton successfully entitled and planned five BFR communities totaling 685 units.
Partner
DuBose is a Partner with CRP and is involved in all aspects of the business with a primary focus on business development, operations and asset management. Prior to joining Canvas Residential Partners and its predecessor Collett Capital in 2020, DuBose held the role of Vice President of Capital Markets for Crescent Communities.
While at Crescent Communities, DuBose led and participated in the capitalization and disposition of over $4.7 billion in complex real estate investments totaling over 16,000 multifamily units and 2 million square feet of commercial and retail space across the Southeast and Southwest.
Prior to joining Crescent Communities, DuBose worked for Lincoln Property Company as well as CarrWorkplaces in Washington, D.C. Before entering real estate, DuBose served on Capitol Hill as a Congressional aid to two Members of Congress.
Partner
Sam is a Partner with CRP and joined the team in 2024 to primarily focus on its acquisition strategy. Sam brings $450M+ of transactional experience, 11 years of commercial real estate experience and 15 years of relevant industry relationships to CRP. Prior to joining CRP, Sam led Sotelo Capital and previously ran the acquisitions and portfolio management team at Morgenstern Capital in New York.
Prior to his tenure at Morgenstern Capital, Sam was a multifamily Broker at Marcus & Millichap and gained his underwriting experience while at AIG for four years following college. Sam graduated from Tulane University in 2007 where he earned dual degrees in Finance and Accounting. He also holds a Master’s in Real Estate Finance from NYU.
Senior Vice President, Development
Rick leads CRP’s development and construction efforts with a primary focus on build-for-rent and multifamily communities. Prior to joining Canvas Residential Partners and its predecessor company Collett Capital, Rick was a Director of Development at Greystar, a vertically integrated global leader in rental housing, covering North and South Carolina. While at Greystar, Rick led the development of over $500 million of multifamily and student housing communities totaling over 2,800 units.
Prior to Greystar, Rick worked for Crescent Communities in Charlotte overseeing the development and construction of multifamily and mixed-use communities across the Southeast and Southwest.
Rick has extensive experience in the multifamily industry having developed over $1.2 billion of multifamily and student housing communities totaling over 6,000 units during his 20+ year career.
Vice President, Investments
Mason focuses on CRP’s investment execution and successful implementation of strategic business plans for the CRP / Collett Capital Portfolio. Prior to joining Canvas Residential Partners and its predecessor company Collett Capital, Mason held the role of Vice President for Crow Holdings Capital in Dallas where he worked in the Retail Fund group and was responsible for acquisitions and asset management of retail assets throughout the United States.
Prior to returning to business school and subsequently joining Crow Holdings Capital, Mason worked as an Assistant Vice President with Walker & Dunlop underwriting multifamily debt and was based out of Nashville and Washington, D.C over the course of his tenure.
Vice President, Asset Management
Sarah is the Vice President of Asset Management at Canvas Residential Partners, where she plays a pivotal role in driving the performance and strategic oversight of the company’s portfolio. With over 10 years of experience in the real estate sector, Sarah’s expertise encompasses management, asset operations and property management.
Before joining Canvas, Sarah was the Director of Asset Management & Performance at LIV Development, where she managed a portfolio of multifamily properties nationwide. Her career began with Greystar in property management, and she has also held roles with Bell Partners and Comet Development.
Vice President, Development
Julia Shaw is a Vice President of Development at CRP and brings experience in real estate capital raising and advisory, asset management and acquisitions, and ground-up development.
Prior to joining CRP, she developed large-scale greenfield sites for solar and data center projects across the Midwest. Before returning to North Carolina in 2023, Julia was a Project Development Manager in Jackson Hole, WY, where she developed and managed ground-up multifamily and build-for-rent projects in Teton County.
She began her career in New York City, focusing on life science acquisitions with Breakthrough Properties (a Tishman Speyer JV) and before that, she was part of Hodes Weill, working on strategic capital raises for real estate funds and joint ventures, as well as M&A and advisory assignments for large real estate managers.
Vice President, Accounting & Finance
Drew joined Canvas Residential Partners’ predecessor company, Collett Capital, in June 2022 to lead the firm’s internal & external financial reporting, compliance, treasury, and strategic planning.
Drew is a Charlotte native whose professional experience is derived from a 10-year career in public accounting and finance. Most recently he was a consultant implementing accounting systems to improve process efficiencies and increase financial insight. Prior to that Drew spent seven years in public accounting primarily focused on serving high-net-worth individuals, family groups, and pass-through entities.
Drew is a licensed CPA and Real Estate Broker in the State of North Carolina.
Associate, Accounting & Finance
Liz is an Investment Accountant at Canvas Residential Partners, with a background in real estate finance and accounting.
Prior to joining CRP, Liz served as an Accountant at Collett Management, where she oversaw the accounts payable process, led the implementation and administration of a new payables software, and supported property-level financial operations. She also assisted CRP’s predecessor company, Collett Capital, with the construction loan draw process and other key accounting functions.
Liz is currently pursuing an MBA at Wake Forest University.
